The pictures from the Hello Kitty Shiny Photobooth and photos from the Haus of Super Shimmer Weekend are up in our "Picture Gallery." It was a lot of fun! Thanks for joining in on the fun!

This year is Sanrio's 50th Anniversary and new items to celebrate, are starting to arrive with characters we haven't seen for a while but have been missing. Like these big stickers, $1.95 each.

If you come in at that time, and tell us the secret password, "melted", and purchase anything from either the grilled cheese truck or JapanLA, we have a free gift for you! (while supplies last, and only on june 19th, from 12-3pm). We also have free Sanrio 50th Anniversary bookmarks and we have some of the Hello Kitty paper hats from last year's exhibition to give you too!

HAUS OF SUPER SHIMMER & ZOOLANDER PICS!

Thank you for coming out to our "Haus of Super Shimmer" Pop-Up Shop and parties! The JapanLA 4 Year Shiny Party pics will be posted next week. We have some good photos from the epic Zoolander Walk-Off Party though! The ones I am posting and a bunch more can be found on the LA Weekly site. Thanks to Bubble Punch for putting this together for us! (pictured below is Stephiee on the left, and Michelle (middle) and True Mee (right), from Bubble Punch! More pics can be found on Bubble Punch site too!

I was so impressed on how many people dressed up for the party! Here was the 1st place winner! He won based on costume and "walk-off" performance! So awesome!

2nd Place Winner went to the Mugatu on the left, on the right is Julie looking cute as always. Thanks to LookBookLA for taking awesome photos. Check out their site for more photos!

David Bowie introduced the Walk-Off, and 3rd place went to this great J.P. Prewitt.

We also had a few of the Darth Vader Helmets on display from The Vader Project. The Opening is TODAY, Friday, June 11, 6pm-10pm. You can check out all 100 helmets painted by artists! They go up for auction in Philadelphia on July 10th, but you can bid online! This is Dan Goodsell's "Darth Bacon" Helmet!

Buff Monster and Dan Goodsell came by on Sunday for an artist "Meet & Greet." That's me and Buff, (after my Sugar Pill makeover), and you can see Dan Goodsell in the background on the left.

Gary Baseman showed up dressed as a Chou Chou. He is having a special event at the La Brea Tar Pits at LACMA, tomorrow, Saturday, June 12th, called "Giggle & Pop," with live performances at noon, 1pm, and 3pm, with random performances in between!

We have the Vader Project Book with pictures of all 100 helmets at JapanLA too!

HAUS OF SUPER SHIMMER 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EXTRAVAGANZA!

Next month is JapanLA's 4 Year Anniversary!!! To celebrate, we are having a special event: "Haus of Super Shimmer," a spectacular, magical weekend of fun! "Haus of Super Shimmer" is a collective of friends who shimmer and shine, with their creative clothing, accessories, toys, art, beauty products and more! The 3-day event includes fun theme parties, makeovers, Hello Kitty, artist appearances, and a special shimmering Pop-Up Shop with exclusive items from Audrey Kitching, Jessica Louise, Chubby Bunny, Jenny Rae Cakes, Sugarpill Cosmetics, and JapanLA!

We also have some special surprises in the pop-up shop, including a special preview of the Vader Project. Three of the 100 helmets that were each painted by some of our favorite artists, will be displayed. Those artists will also make appearances at the event.

We will also have a special preview of some of the upcoming Sanrio 50th Anniversary products being released this year!

There are so many events within this event. Here is a breakdown of what we have going on!

Friday, June 4th, 6pm-10pm
"Walk-Off Party," a Zoolander-inspired Theme Party, presented by Bubble Punch & JapanLA. We encourage everyone to dress up in their most outrageous, fashionable outfits or as the Zoolander cast themselves to compete in a special "walk-off." (You do not have to dress up. You can show up to see everyone else's outfits). There will be prizes too! One of the prizes is a Hello Kitty razor scooter, pretty awesome! Free Photobooth too!

The Zoolander-Inspired Party is Free.

You know how we love theme parties. So, we are having an "Extreme Shiny Outfit Contest!" Dressing shiny is pretty easy. Here are some of my shiny friends to give you some ideas! (Again, you do not have to dress up to come to the party, but it is more fun if you do.)

Sugarpill Cosmetics will be doing free make-up makeovers when you purchase $50 or more of Sugarpill Makeup. This was the make-up that was used for all the models during the Hello Kitty Fashion Show. Here's a pic of one of the models wearing the make-up! Sugarpill was created by our friend, Shrinkle, who you can come and meet during the 3-day event!

I HEART CUTE SOCKS!

We have REALLY cute socks at JapanLA right now!!!! Like these ninja, mustache, eyeglasses, and teeth socks, only $7 per pair. The yellow mustache and red ninja are calf-length, so can be worn by men or women. The pink mustache, grey ninja, eyeglasses, tooth socks are knee-length, which women usually prefer more than men, but...hey, if guys want to wear them too, awesome!

We also have very cute Hello Kitty socks in stock. These are all knee-length socks, $12 per pair. The red striped ones are the "I Heart Nerds" with Hello Kitty wearing glasses socks. Many of you were asking when we would get more of those in. They are HERE now!

HK BUNNIES FOR EASTER! CAMILLA BAGS! HK TEES!

Easter is early this year! This Sunday, April 4th. The Hello Kitty dressed as Bunnies and Chicks are perfect for your Easter baskets! THE PUBLIC ZOO PARTY AT JAPANLA THIS SAT, MARCH 27!

We are having a party with The Public Zoo, this Saturday, March 27th, 7pm - 10pm at JapanLA. We will have the empty store next door again, and are turning it into a dance party room. Party People will be DJing! Free Photo Area! Free Sapporo Beer! This party is all ages, but 21+ with ID if drinking beer!

Han Lee, the owner/designer of Public Zoo, will be signing free posters during the event. There will also be giveaways...and free Goody Bags worth $50 with any Public Zoo purchase! We have both womens and mens tees!

We have the FrySmith Truck coming! They will be parked out front serving crazy fries. I want to try these Rajas Fries with steak or the veggie chili cheese fries...look so yummy! They also make cookies too!
